How To Find Your WHY

secretsofyve

Welcome! This blog and associated podcasts are inclusive, self-empowerment, personal development, and inner harmony-nurturing safe spaces where you will be guided to not only take up space, but simultaneously hold space for others. The blogs include more information than the podcasts. Here is a blog about: How To Find Your Why.

By now you’ve read my previous blogs or seen my Instagram posts regarding why your WHY is important; the positive impact it has on your life and well-being. If you haven’t, please make sure to visit my Instagram and read Your WHY in Life and Why It Matters first. I’ve described how life can seem blurry without one’s WHY and the need to take time to reflect to discover it. It is your reason for being. Now that we have reached this stage, I would like to state a very important reminder for you; instant gratification is not the goal. All the way from the discovery of your WHY, to the building and implementation of your goals; I want you to know that it is going to take TIME. I mentioned in one of my IG posts that the best thing we can do is invest in ourselves and that means being committed for the long haul with both feet in. I also posted the following statement: When you work in a way that simultaneously serves yourself and others, a shift inside you happens that honors your existence. Stay focused on your growth & progress, inspiring others along the way and you'll be unstoppable.

There are many ways to get to your WHY and I will list a few that I hope will be helpful and will act as guides during this time. Your WHY might be right in front of you and you may not even have noticed it. That is why being mindful is so important.

Here are a few steps and questions to help you begin:

·         Start by looking at what you hold dear. What means the most to you?

·         What are your guiding principles?

·         What makes you feel like you could jump out of the bed each morning with joy and lay down to sleep at the end of the day feeling whole and fulfilled? What truly motivates you?

·         What values have you adopted for yourself?

·         What are you good at doing even if it or they are not part of your everyday work?

·         What comes naturally and effortlessly to you?

·         What would you be willing to transfer or teach people about?

·         What are you willing to commit to that is a passion that you might want to try little by little each day or even each week? If you haven’t kept up with my Instagram posts, I would like to kindly urge you to do so (find me at @secretsofyve). In one of them I reminded everyone that the only way to make the unknown, that people tend to fear so much, known is to TRY.

·         Are you willing to reflect and imagine yourself doing the things you love without worry?

·         What would dedicate your energy to and spend most of your time doing?

·         If you had limited time to spend working, what would you spend that time doing?

·         What makes you feel the most productive?

As you start to answer the aforementioned questions or respond to the prompts, you start to have a clearer vision of your WHY. How? Because you have a WHY for each of your answers that align with your core and inner self.

An additional way to discover your WHY is to review what others have said about you or offered praise for. This can help you see what you have been doing and overlooking that may actually be your WHY.

When you do what you are meant to do, you commit without hesitation and you feel as though you are thriving versus wasting your time. There is no settling, and you are never going to be in an endless pursuit of fulfillment.

Remember, being mindful and self-aware is a key component to getting to your WHY. When you analyze all that is happening within you and around you, you start to see the pieces of your puzzle start to finally come together.
